Scholarships Reception 2013

185 guests – donors, scholars and members of staff – attended the 2013 Scholarships Reception which was hosted by Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor John Fisher in Parkinson Court.
The event, held annually, gives our donors the opportunity to meet the scholars who are being funded by their gifts – and allows the scholars to say a very personal “thank you” for their generosity.
For one alumnus Donald Vincent (Chemistry 1942) it was his first time inside the Parkinson Building – though he recalled nights spent on the roof of the building, on fire-watching duty during the Second World War.
Medical student Zain Velji – who thanked donors at the reception on behalf of all the scholars – here talks about the difference which a Social Enrichment Scholarship made to his studies:
