A UNION OF POSSIBILITIES Leeds University Union is consistently ranked among Britain’s very best – and a recent refurbishment has ensured that this remarkable building will continue to welcome and inspire students for years to come. Taking pride of place in its spacious atrium is a Donor Wall listing more than 400 Footsteps Fund donors who between them contributed over £100,000 to this upgrade. Donations to the Footsteps Fund also support the Union’s clubs and societies. Here is just a handful of examples of how alumni are helping to ensure that all students can make the most of their time at Leeds: • Leeds Student TV has seen a major investment in studio equipment; • Funding allowed sustainability campaign group Green Action to increase their public engagement and impact; • Your support enabled the Duke of Edinburgh Award Society to expand numbers and run successful expeditions; • New equipment has improved the sound quality at LUU Big Band concerts, enabling them to perform in a wider range of venues; • Women’s Rugby was enabled to invest in new safety and training equipment. Gifts to the Footsteps Fund have also supported the University’s innovative Lifestyle and Wellbeing Programme – a cross-campus collaboration which helps support students to overcome mental health issues through a combination of counselling and exercise. 4 The Footsteps Fund Since 2013, Footsteps Fund gifts totalling over £250,000 have supported LUU projects and activities run by more than 50 Union clubs and societies.
