The Footsteps Fund 2 OPPORTUNITY FOR ALL The Footsteps Fund is founded on the principle that outstanding young people should have the opportunity to study at Leeds, irrespective of their background. Supported by alumni and friends of the University, the fund opens the doors of learning by providing scholarships to enable young people from less privileged backgrounds to take up their hard- earned place at Leeds. It also supports a vibrant programme of social events and practical guidance which enable these students to immerse themselves in every aspect of University life. The Footsteps Fund contributes to initiatives which enhance the student experience for all – improving the campus, widening the opportunities offered by our union clubs and societies, and breathing life into projects through which passionate young people can give back to society. All this potential is unlocked by the kind support of our donors. And in recent times this generosity has been extended into the research labs and patient clinics of our campus, to push forward research with the promise of changing lives worldwide. This support is now woven into the fabric of University life; there is no corner of campus yet to feel its impact. And with your help, we can do still more. Since 2004, more than 14,000 people have donated to Footsteps Fund appeals. These gifts have contributed more than £6 million to the University’s Making a World of Difference Campaign.
