Footsteps Fund Call Team: Chloe

 August 9, 2021 | Jess Mifsud-Bonnici

Dear friend,

How long has it been since you visited Leeds campus? Since you sat and had your lunch on Parkinson Steps? Since you met up with friends in the union to celebrate? Since you walked through Hyde Park on a sunny day?

After graduation it can be hard to find the time to get back to Leeds, which is why I’m writing to you today – to tell you how current students, like me, can be your link to Leeds.

As a  supporter of the University and its students, you’re connected more than most to everything happening on campus.  You continue to ensure that students today can have the same great experience you had when you were here, be that through helping to fund scholarships, campus renovations or supporting our researchers.

You help Leeds to be an enriching environment for all those who call it home.

To keep you up to date with the impact of your giving, other campus news, and to strengthen your link to Leeds, we hope you will update your contact number today – so you can receive a call from a current student through the Footsteps Fund.

Working for the Footsteps Fund has been the best job I’ve ever had. So many of my favourite memories of being at Leeds come from my time in the team. Not only because of the great friends I’ve made – It’s the hours I’ve spent speaking to graduates, like you, and the impact I’ve had in fundraising to support fellow students.

I’ve been lucky to receive so much great advice from alumni, helping me to make the most of my time at Leeds and find the best opportunities for after graduation. Talking to those who studied the same course as me, or were in the same societies, or the same halls – and finding out the various different paths life has taken them down – has been inspiring.

It made me realise that my choices aren’t limited and it’s great to speak to and connect with someone who was in the exact same position as I am.

More than anything, I loved talking about your experiences of Leeds – the Otley runs you did, the gigs you saw in the Refectory, the hours spent in the lab or the library and your many university traditions.

To strengthen your link to Leeds and its students, would you consider updating your contact details?

Whilst you’re there it’d be nice if you could share your favourite memory of Leeds. Mine was a couple summers back, sitting on Woodhouse Moor on a sunny day with my friends just after we had a coursework hand-in. The park was bustling with students – there was music playing, people practising the slackline and you could feel the celebratory atmosphere in the air.

It really summed up being at Leeds for me – the strong student community and how tight knit we all are. If my time in the Footsteps Fund has taught me anything it’s that, whilst we may have gone to university years apart, the Leeds experience is eternal and there’s so much joy alumni, like you, can share with students.

Please keep in touch!

Best wishes,
